Welcoming 18!

Dear Friend,

It’s all about the kids! That’s what your contribution to The Fishing Academy has told us time and time again. On behalf of our board and staff, I would like to personally thank you for supporting us as we head into our 18th season of serving youth. You have made our mission of taking kids off the streets and into the great outdoors possible. Hundreds of inner-city kids are learning life-skills and setting goals every year while having fun!

We are extremely proud that many of the participants coming through our program are able to continue with TFA through our Youth Job Initiative. For many of these youth, this is the first employment opportunity of their young adult life. Like Cassidy Aiello, who started fishing with our program at age 6 and at age 15 got her first job at TFA. She was our Lead Female Instructor for seven years and now works in promotions for the Boston Bruins. As we approach the holiday season, now more than ever, I am asking for your help to keep this program going strong.

Below are just some of our organization’s accomplishments over the years!

  • Served over 8,500 youth from Greater Boston area

  • Awarded 100 Fishing Academy youth State Fishing Pins

  • Featured on award-winning “Chronicle” television news show and in print media

  • Taught life-skills: teamwork, patience, discipline, respect and self-confidence

  • Offered over $95,000 in camperships and financial assistance to needy families

  • Developed Veterans Fishing Programs, taking 1,000 Veterans out on the water

  • Hosted 17th Annual “Safe Summer Kick-off” day with anti-drug, alcohol and violence lectures

  • Collaborated with over 50 groups to take at-risk youths off the streets

  • Added after-school fishing programs and educational outings for community centers

  • Employed over 50 local youth, with focus on career path in fishing and boating industry

  • Implemented Covid Initiative, handing out Turkey’s and Christmas Trees to families in need

Your donation today of $25.00, $50.00, $100.00 or more will help us continue to provide quality programming that keeps kids safe, while putting smiles on their faces. Together we can help them develop into future leaders of their communities, so that someday they will create positive opportunities for the next generation! You will also help us continue outings for our Military Veterans who have served this great country. If you have any questions regarding our organization, or would like this letter electronically to pass on to others who can possibly help, feel free to contact me.
