As a non-profit organization, the Fishing Academy is dedicated to providing its services to children regardless of their or their family’s ability to pay. To do this, we rely heavily upon volunteered donations of time, services, equipment, grants and donations from organizations and individuals that empathize with our mission.

 

The following is a brief overview of our achievements:

  • Served over 6,500 children from Greater Boston area

  • Honor our Military by adding programs for Veterans

  • Awarded 100 Fishing Academy Youth State Fishing Pins

  • Featured on award-winning "Chronicle" television news show and in print media

  • Taught life-skills: teamwork, patience, discipline, respect and self-confidence

  • Offered over $80,000 in camperships and financial assistance to needy families

  • Developed and expanded programming to meet needs of families and the community

  • Hosted "Safe Summer Kickoff" day with anti-drug, alcohol and violence lectures

  • Collaborated with over 50 groups to take at-risk youths off the streets

  • Added after-school fishing programs and educational outings for community centers

  • Facilitated trips for Perkins School for the Blind and Horace Mann School for Deaf

  • Employed local youth, with focus on career path in fishing and boating industry

  • Introduced 500 Families to the sport at "Family Fishing Days" on George's Island

  • Received awards from Bank of America and Brighton Board of Trade

  • Honored with citations from the State House and Governor's office
